VHOLUME Controls & Settings: Controller vs Keyboard
Controller or Keyboard?
Steam lists full controller support, so this is a genuine choice, not a compromise:
- Keyboard + mouse — finer camera control mid-air, faster precise turns, easier slide-jump timing. The speedrun community overwhelmingly runs KB+M; if author times are your goal, start here.
- Controller — analog movement suits the game’s contemplative pace, and the “Playable without Timed Input” accessibility flag means nothing in the game demands frame-perfect inputs. Great for exploration-first players and B-Side hunting sessions.
Switching mid-game costs nothing — the game recognizes both. Many players explore on controller and grind gold medals on KB+M.
Motion Blur & Motion Comfort
VHOLUME leans into fast camera motion, and the most-asked settings question is how to tame it:
- The game carries Steam’s Camera Comfort feature flag, and the settings menu exposes camera/comfort options — start there.
- The community’s “How to Disable Motion Blur in VHOLUME” Steam guide documents the full method: when the menu slider isn’t enough, the game’s Unreal Engine 5 config files accept standard UE overrides.
Where the Config Files Live
Per PCGamingWiki, settings are stored at:
%LOCALAPPDATA%\VHOLUME\Saved\Config\Windows
That’s the answer to “vholume where config”: paste the path above into Explorer’s address bar. Standard UE5 caveats apply — back up files before editing, and verify game files on Steam if something breaks.
Settings That Help Runs
- Field of view: wider FOV makes routing and collectable spotting easier at the cost of some GPU headroom — see system requirements.
- Frame rate first: consistent frame times matter more than resolution for slide-jump timing. On minimum-spec hardware (GTX 960 class), drop resolution before effects.
- The vertical “phone view” moments some players ask about are a deliberate presentation choice in specific spots, not a setting you toggled by accident — see the demo guide.
