VHOLUME Demo Guide: What It Has & Full Game Differences

Is the Demo Still Available?

Yes. The free demo has its own Steam listing (released February 3, 2026) and remained live after the full game launched on August 21. If you’re on the fence about the $7.99 purchase, the demo is the honest way to test whether the movement clicks for you.

What’s in the Demo

  • The opening slice of the brutalist capital, centered on the racetrack hub that became the community’s speedrun playground (see speedrun guide).
  • Demo2 update (June 10, 2026) added multiplayer and new maps — you can race friends’ ghosts without buying anything.
  • Its own secrets: the demo’s hidden rooms and collectables built VHOLUME’s exploration reputation months before release. Some oddities became famous in their own right — including a vertical “phone view” presentation quirk players still ask about, and collectables that carry the same off-route logic as the full game’s B-Side hunt.

Demo vs Full Game

Demo (free)
LevelsOpening slice + demo maps
MultiplayerYes (since Demo2)
AchievementsNo Steam achievements
WorkshopNo

The full game adds the complete 31-level campaign, 31 unlockable B-Sides, 14 achievements and Steam Workshop support — see the level list for the scale of what unlocks.

Demo Progress & Patches

  • The demo received its own patches through spring 2026 (tracked publicly on SteamDB) — it was a living build, not a frozen slice.
  • Demo save progress is separate from the full game — treat demo time as practice, not progress. Your movement skills are the only thing that transfers, and they transfer completely: start with the movement guide.

After the Demo

Convinced? The beginner guide covers your first hours in the full game, and the release page has the full version timeline.
